Bernadette Phelan, Head of Advisory Services, Business in the Community Ireland
Bernadette joined in April 2012. She leads the advisory team, and manages the portfolio of services and projects to our members. Bernadette is responsible for the Leaders’ Group on Sustainability which drives innovation and collaboration within sustainability for business.
She sits on a range of forums including: CSR Stakeholder Forum of the Department of Business, Enterprise & Innovation; Sustainability Expert Working Group of Chartered Accountants Ireland; Sustainable Business Council of Chambers Ireland; and Steering Committee of the Irish Forum on Natural Capital.
Bernadette has a comprehensive background in sustainable development having designed and managed a range of strategic economic and social initiatives. Prior to joining, Bernadette managed EU funded business programmes in the renewable energy sector. She has expertise in building partnership initiatives and policy development given roles in the Western Development Commission and the Kilkenny LEADER Partnership Company.
She holds a Masters in Science from UCD, BA (mod) Economics/Geography from Trinity College, and Certificate in Renewable Energy from Limerick IT.
