John Keaney, CEO, SIRO
John Keaney is CEO of SIRO and responsible for delivering Ireland’s first 100% fibre-optic network, with €450 million being invested in helping address the digital divide between major cities and regional Ireland. From a standing start, over 360,000 homes and businesses across Ireland can now connect to services powered by SIRO’s Gigabit broadband network, with many more to be connectable as part of the ongoing rollout.
As a Wicklow resident, John is acutely aware of the broadband challenges facing thousands across Ireland, with Covid-19 highlighting the issue more than ever before. SIRO’s unique technology, which leverages the ESB network to connect fibre-optic cables all the way to a building, has enabled John and his team at SIRO to help organisations like Cartoon Saloon complete their latest animated feature Wolfwalkers while their staff worked remotely and the Tara Care Centre to connect their residents with their loved ones during the lockdown.
Before taking up the role as SIRO CEO in 2018, John served as Financial Director at SIRO since 2014. He joined SIRO following a ten-year period with Vodafone where he served in a variety of roles including Head of Financial Operations and Financial Controller. John holds an Economics degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
