Sustainability Policy
Sustainability Policy
At the Sustainability Summit we recognise our responsibility in sustainable development and understand its interconnection between our social, environmental and economic activities that we undertake. We understand our planetary boundaries and value the equal and just distribution of resources and opportunities to all members of our society.
The purpose of this policy is to outline our commitment to maximising the positive social, environmental and economic outputs of the Sustainability Summit while eliminating and minimising any negative impacts. To achieve this, the Sustainability Summit has engaged Native Events Ireland, specialist sustainable event consultants to guide us in considering sustainability across the logistical, financial and creative aspects of the event.
Our Focus:
The Sustainability Summit, while considering the broad overarching sustainability of the event, seeks to action three key aims:
- A focus on Biodiversity, Ecosystems and Natural Capital in line with the UN Decade of Ecosystem Restoration commencing this year 2021.
- To achieve Carbon Neutrality for the Sustainability Summit through virtual-event-specific carbon calculations and offsetting with a chosen partner.
- To underpin all event activities with SDG 4 Quality Education and SDG 17 Partnerships for the Goals by encouraging and promoting knowledge sharing and collaboration between all stakeholders.
Our Commitment
- We will conduct our event operations with integrity and with regard for the law and the planet.
- We will ensure responsible use of natural resources and responsible management of any event related materials for repurposing, recycling or disposal.
- We aim to leave a lasting impression on our stakeholders through our commitment to sustainability.
- We will acknowledge and comply with ISO20121 in our management of this virtual event with sustainability at the core of our activities from the outset.
- We will ensure measurement and timely reviews and reporting of our sustainability strategy and policy for the Sustainability Summit and plan for continual improvement of metrics across the triple bottom line.
Compliance
All event stakeholders are made aware of this policy prior to the event. Where relevant, certain event stakeholders may be engaged and required to complete performance measurement review and data to assist in determining the footprint of the event.
